Amazing book store

Yes, we can help you find the book you are looking for

Does beacon buy books?

Good quality, in demand, resaleable books  can be exchanged for store credit .

Customers with store credit  pay half of the retail price - the other half is deducted from their store credit account. Payment is by cash, debit, credit card or Pay Pal.

Can Beacon help me find a book?

Quite likely!  Most of our books are NOT computer catalogued. There are too many and they come and go too quickly to keep up a complete computer inventory. However, our staff  is very knowledgeable & can help you find the book you are looking for.

Doing a book search for something special  or rare or hard to find? That material may possibly be found using  our online catalogue. Rare, of out-of-print, collectible, very old books or Signed and/or First  Edition books can be searched through Right click on the link or click  the FIND OUT MORE button below and you can search for that rare or hard to find book right now.

Or if you  are doing another kind of  book  search you can phone us (250-655-4447) or contact us by email at  and we will check our store inventory or the online catalogue  for the book you are looking for.

Easy peasey.

positively Amazing selection of books

Beacon Books has been in business since 1996. It is owned and operated by Christine & Clive Tanner , long time residents of Sidney, BC.

The store is 4,000 square feet  in an iconic landmark building brimming with  a remarkable selection of secondhand books - fiction and non-fiction, from best-selling paperbacks to classic hardcovers to illustrated art books, reference , children's books  and more.

Browse through the History & Military Room and Gardening/Cookbooks & Crafts section.  We also have a Modern Firsts & Signed Editions collection.

Beautiful Sidney by the Sea has  five book stores and  hosts many literary events - that's why it is known as Book Town.
